Biography

Dr. Chang Yu is a tenure-track Assistant Professor and Research Fellow at the School of Intelligence Science and Technology, Nanjing University.

Dr. Yu received the Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA) in 2024, advised by Prof. Zhen Lei (IEEE Fellow), and the B.Eng. degree in Automation from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2019. Before joining Nanjing University, Dr. Yu was a postdoctoral researcher at Westlake University, collaborating with Chair Prof. Stan Z. Li (IEEE Fellow).

Research Interests

Dr. Yu’s research focuses on:

  • AI for Science: AI methods that accelerate scientific discovery
  • World Models: learning unified dynamics that generalize across data manifolds
  • Virtual Cell: modeling cross-omics and single-cell dynamics in silico

Academic Impact

Dr. Yu has published in top-tier venues including ICLR, ICML, CVPR, and IEEE TPAMI, with more than ten papers as first author or co-corresponding author. A representative work was selected for an Oral presentation at ICML 2026 (top 0.7%). Dr. Yu has also served as principal investigator of a China Postdoctoral Science Foundation General Program project, among others.
